My name is Paul and welcome to Project Green Taigh. For many years now I have dreamed of building my own family Taigh (house, home), but not just any home. My dream is to build an energy efficient home, a sustainable home for my family and me.
For years we have plundered our planets resources without a thought, taking for granted what she bestows upon us, ignorantly thinking that there was an endless supply. Only now are we realising that, not only are we using these natural resources faster than we can replace them but using them is also contributing to climate change.
We now stand at a crucial point in history, do nothing and risk the wrath of mother nature or act now to help combat climate change in any way we can. I would like this build to be used as an educational experience to teach my children and the public, encouraging them to live a more sustainable lifestyle. To give them an insight into what can be achieved whether it ‘s by following my lead with a sustainable build or by just adopting one or two of the technologies or methods used.
“Natural environment sustains the life of all beings universally. Trees are referred to in accounts of the principal events of Buddha’s life. His mother leaned against a tree for support as she gave birth to him. He attained enlightenment seated beneath a tree, and finally passed away as trees stood witness overhead.
In today’s highly interdependent world, individuals and nations can no longer resolve many of their problems by themselves. We need one another. We must therefore develop a sense of universal responsibility . . . It is our collective and individual responsibility to protect and nurture the global family, to support its weaker members, and to preserve and tend to the environment in which we all live.”………..His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Until now it had only been a dream but with the help and support from industry leading Manufacturers, Merchants and Distributors of the latest sustainable, recycled and renewable technologies it now looks like becoming a reality.
You can follow the builds progress on this website, look at the technologies I’m using & why and find out more on the innovative companies who are helping make this dream a reality. It is also my aim once the build has finished to monitor the property and the technologies used.
Follow this innovative build which will utilise the latest construction methods, sustainable & recycled building materials and renewable energy microgeneration technologies.
